Doctor Who: Desperado

Song: Desperado
Artist: Ryan Kelly (Celtic Thunder)/Eagles
Fandom: Doctor Who (The Doctor)

Lyrics: Here

Desperado,
Oh you aint getting no younger.
Your pain and your hunger,
They're driving you home.
And freedom, ohh freedom.
Well that's just some people talking.
Your prison is walking through this world all alone.

Why: There are a lot of sentiments in it that I feel go well with the Doctor and how he operates. Each verse has a concept that I think fits the Doctor well, but the one above is especially appropriate. He's no longer a young man, he can't keep still and he wants to be free, but at the same time, he needs someone to travel with him - to love. And, at the end of the day, his burden ('prison') is to be alone, because none of his companions can last forever. A desperado is an outlaw, too, which is what the Doctor is to a lot of people he's encountered and foiled over the years.

I love it! I've heard this song a billion times, and yet never connected to anything, Doctor Who is perfect! I also like how "The sky won't snow and the sun won't shine. It's hard to tell the night time from the day" could be taken a reference to space.
